Akridge redeveloped and repositioned this dilapidated and vacant structure, formerly home to the Washington Times Herald newspaper, adding new floors and performing a complete slab to slab rehabilitation. The 106,000-square-foot renovation was designed by VOA Architects, with Akridge overseeing acquisition, development, construction management, and project financing, which utilized the District of Columbia government's tax-exempt bond financing. Upon substantial completion in 1998, the property was sold to four education associations: the American Association of Colleges for Teachers Education, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges.
