17 DC Village Lane, SW

Akridge was selected by the Office of Property Management in May 2009 to develop the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Evidence Control Facility, which features state-of-the-art security, storage, and retrieval systems to ensure protection of evidence collected in police department cases. The company evaluated multiple potential sites and customized the design of the facility to the unique functions required by the MPD, ultimately developing a facility that includes highly secure vaults for containment of firearms, drugs, and valuables as well as refrigerated bio-storage. The project was delivered in the spring of 2011, ahead of schedule and under budget. Its energy efficient features contributed to the facility earning LEED Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council, an impressive accomplishment for a warehouse not located near mass transit.
